White Out, Winter Spiti

Dehradun Kaza Dehradun – 10 STAGES – 1350 KM

1/11 • Arrival in Dehradun/Rishikesh

Your winter Himalayan adventure begins as you land in Rishikesh/Dehradun, the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. The chill of the winter air and the calm Ganga riverbanks set the tone for the journey ahead. Spend the evening at Triveni Ghat, witnessing the Ganga Aarti under the cool night sky, or enjoy the peaceful riverside cafes. Later, attend a ride briefing and bike allocation session, preparing for the icy challenges ahead.

2/10 • Rishikesh/Dehradun - Narkanda

Kickstart your winter expedition as you ride through the lower Himalayan ranges, passing misty valleys, pine forests, and snow patches as you enter Himachal Pradesh. Gradually, the temperature dips, and the mountain air grows sharper. By evening, reach Narkanda, a quaint hill station blanketed in snow, famous for apple orchards and serene winter views. - 280 KM

3/10 • Narkanda- Kalpa

Today, experience the thrill of riding on winter mountain roads, with snow-capped peaks towering around. Traverse through cliffside routes and the famous Rock Tunnel road, offering breathtaking winter vistas. By late afternoon, arrive in Chitkul, the last village on the Indo-Tibet border, often draped in snow during winters, where the frozen Baspa River and alpine silence create a surreal atmosphere. - 180 KM

4/10 • Kalpa - Nako

Leave behind the snowy Baspa Valley and ride towards the remote high-altitude terrains. The landscape transforms into a white and brown mosaic as you approach the Trans-Himalayan desert. Pass through Khab Bridge, where the Sutlej and Spiti Rivers meet, often surrounded by icy winds and frostcovered cliffs. By evening, reach Nako, a frozen village with its icy lake creating a postcard-perfect winter scene. - 150 KM

5/10 • Nako - Kaza

Today’s ride takes you deeper into Spiti’s winter wonderland. Navigate through snow-covered winding roads and icy river bends, witnessing how life survives in this harsh yet beautiful Himalayan desert. Stop at Gue Monastery, home to the mummified monk of Gue, a mystical experience against the snowy silence of the valley. By evening, reach Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley, which in winter feels isolated, tranquil, and magical. - 140 KM

6/10 • Kaza Sightseeing

Experience Spiti in its raw winter glory as you ride to its highaltitude villages:
· Key Monastery – Standing resilient against the icy winds, it looks straight out of a winter postcard.
Kibber Village – A snow-covered village where life slows down in the extreme cold.
· Hikkim – Post a letter from the world’s highest post office, surrounded by white Himalayan expanses.
· Langza – Known for its giant Buddha statue amidst snowdraped mountains, offering a calm, spiritual vibe.
· Riding in winter here is challenging but unforgettable, with frosted roads and frozen streams. -50 KM

7/10 • Kaza - Sangla/Chitkul

Start the long, thrilling ride back from Spiti’s icy landscapes to the greener valleys of Kinnaur. Roads may have frozen stretches and light snow, making the journey adventurous. As you descend, the barren winter desert slowly gives way to apple country, and you reach Kalpa, offering stunning views of snow-clad Kinner Kailash. The contrast between Spiti’s stark winter silence and Kalpa’s cozy winter charm is mesmerizing. - 250 KM

8/10 • Chitkul - Shimla

Ride along the Sutlej River Valley, where patches of frost and snow line the riversides. The scenic route winds through Himalayan villages wrapped in winter hues, bringing you to Shimla, the colonial hill station that feels extra magical with its winter chill and occasional snowfall. - 220 KM

9/10 • Shimla - Dehradun/Rishikesh

Embark on the final stretch of your winter expedition, descending from the icy mountain curves to the foothills. The ride allows one last glimpse of the frozen Himalayas, before reaching Rishikesh, where the warmer river valley feels like a soft landing after days in the high-altitude cold. Celebrate the successful completion of your winter Spiti ride by the peaceful banks of the Ganga. - 120 KM
