A Buddhist cold-desert valley reached through the Kinnaur gorges, with ancient monasteries, fossil villages and some of the most dramatic roads in the Himalaya.
Spiti is usually approached from Shimla through Kinnaur and exited via Kunzum La and the Atal Tunnel to Manali — a loop with constantly changing terrain, from apple orchards to high desert.

Is the road difficult?
Sections through Kinnaur and around Kunzum La include broken tarmac, water crossings and gravel. Prior mountain-riding experience is strongly recommended.
