The expedition

Overview

A royal ride through the Land of the Maharajas. From Delhi we ride to Jaipur, the Pink City, then north into the Shekhawati region and its painted havelis, west across the Thar Desert to Bikaner and the golden city of Jaisalmer, and south through Jodhpur, the Aravalli hills and Kumbhalgarh to the lakes of Udaipur — returning via Chittorgarh, Pushkar and Jaipur to Delhi. Forts, palaces, desert dunes and village roads, at the pace of a small group.

Tour leader: an English-speaking motorcycle tour leader supervises the trip — a seasoned rider and traveller, and an expert on the destination. An integral part of your experience and the group dynamic, he or she will make your adventure unforgettable in complete safety.

Level — intermediate: we ride mainly on small secondary roads. Stages of 6 to 8 hours are repeated every day, so good physical fitness is a must. Passages on rolling tracks can be frequent. Most of the riding is on tarmac, and about 20% of the journey may be in city traffic.

Accommodation — standard: simple accommodation with hot showers, individual sanitary facilities, and a touch of charm where possible.

Meal plan — half board: breakfast and dinner are included (pure vegetarian); lunch is at your own expense.

Important: this trip includes a few long stages. First aid and transfer to the nearest medical centre are provided by our support vehicle, as helicopters and ambulances are rarely available. Road quality and conditions can be affected by current and recent weather.
